Premiered at the concert Audiorama presents Navigators during the Sound of Stockholm festival, 16/11 - 2023.
With the use of phase-locked oscillators, the already large amount of timbral control afforded by justly tuned intervals is increased, allowing for greater precision of both the spectral and spatial qualities of the sounds produced. In EPL, Mattias Hållsten uses this to create a music that enables each listener an individual experience in harmony, time and space. The static harmonic structures are then combined with rapid rhythms, marking a shift in the composer’s approach to spatial and timbral gestures.
