Shō and electronics
Premiered at Fylkingen, 1/4 - 2023.
Similar to Solo #1, the sound of the shō is here juxtaposed with the stable sound of justly tuned phased modulated digital oscillators. The minute inconsistencies in pitch between inhale and exhale when playing the shō is used to, quite literally, breathe life into the precise tuning of the electronics. This results in a situation in which the shō player enters into and shapes the electronic sound, without the use of any de facto control system.
