The Aimless Blade of Science (2017)

This piece utilizes a synthesis algorithm where a noise source is sent through a series of delay lines of varying, but short, delay times. The delay lines completes a feedback loop, and each delay line corresponds to one speaker. In a sense it is sort of like an expanded karplus-strong algorithm.

The piece was premiered in the 29-channel speaker dome at KMH, using 8 delay lines that were dispersed among the speakers. In the stereo version below the delay lines are converted to a stereo signal using the Splay object in SuperCollider.
